Securing the "Cloud" is taken very seriously

By Kevin Hachey, Regional Sales Director, WebFilings

At a time when a large percentage of the business world relies heavily on cloud computing for enabling their organizations to run more efficiently, effectively, and securely, there are still lingering concerns among those unfamiliar with this approach regarding just how safe this mysterious cloud really is.

As noted in my previous post, What value do customers get from using a 'cloud' based service like WebFilings?, the WebFilings infrastructure and platform providers, Google and Amazon, are unmatched in networking, application hosting, and data security. As a result, our application has better uptime, scalability, data redundancy, and fault tolerance than a traditional-hosted or on-premise system could provide.

The following video is an overview of the Google Apps security model, and uses a rather appropriate banking analogy to illustrate the evolution of technologies like cloud computing.

To further demonstrate how seriously Google takes security and redundancy, this next clip is a tour of a Google Data Center. They have dozens of these container facilities around the world and they're building more.
